ANTIQUE PYZIQUE can be used to build "Shadow Box" retaining walls that have a three dimensional appearance of natural stone walls. Thediagram at the bottom of this column shows three layers of ANTIQUE PYZIQUE withrandom placement of stones with a forward movement and a backward movement of some stones. These movements can be totallyrandom or in a pattern. Also, the forward and backward movements can varied from 5/8" to 1" similar to thedrawing at the side of this column. The ANTIQUE PYZIQUE shown below is a "Shadow Box" style wall. Remember, all retaining walls, including "Shadow Box" walls, are built with a 5/8-inch set back of the center line of each layer from the center line of the layer below. (See Bump Out drawing.) Failure to follow this simple requirement on retaining walls only a few layers tall can be the cause of the wall to lean forward over time. The shadow box style can be built straight up to build stone fences or patio barrier walls. Both will have the appearance of being built with natural stone. |
